Erin Hill is an artist, birth support practitioner and PhD student. Her practice is devoted to building relations with more-than-human partners, such as the sun (Sunrise Commitment, 2018) and weather (Deep Gazing, ongoing). Their research is guided by awe, the ineffable and the situated experience of sensing, and shaped through performance, scores, radio and self-publishing.

Since 2024, Hill's research has been engaged by the nuances of beyond verbal communication and consent in interspecies relationships, for which she is pursuing a PhD in Interdisciplinary Humanities at Concordia University (CA). Through this doctoral research-creation, Hill asks how a western worldview structures certain ways of knowing and communicating, while obscuring, erasing, or quieting others. Their research aims to reimagine these forces by creating artistic and pedagogical tools for attuning to the movements and subtle energies that enliven our relations, human and more-than-human alike.

Erin is a dramaturg and writer for dance artists Maude Arès (La Pomme par laquelle je bois, 2026), Lucy M. May (The Conditions, 2025), Sebastian Kann (Topical Dance, 2024), Charlie Prince (the body symphonic, 2021), and Camille Lacelle-Wilsey (She’s Late//A Circus Show, 2023; Come a bit closer, 2021). Their writing has been published in the anthologies Bodies of Sound: Becoming a Feminist Ear (Silver Press, 2024), Diffracting New Materialisms (Palgrave Macmillan, 2022), Chairs (Éditions Triptyque, 2019). Hill has self-published Deep Gazing (by Horizon Factory, 2024), O (an artist book, 2018) and was editor-in-chief of Moving Parts: Articulated Bodies and Objects in Performance (Café Concret, 2020). Sometimes a musician, Erin made her debut in Stretching the Unison (2024) by Adam Kinner at PHI in Montreal. Erin holds a Master’s degree from DAS Theatre (formerly DasArts) in Amsterdam and makes home as a settler in Tiohtià:ke/Mooniyang/Montreal.
